Why we left Taos (and where we’re going)

We have some really big news to share with all those who have followed us from the beginnings of our school as The Human Path and where it has grown over the last 19+ years into Herbal Medics. This month marks the start of some new changes and expansion that will allow us to do more on-site classes, deeper explorations of the clinical program and greater accessibility for students.

It was a hard decision to leave our Taos Mtn. Campus, but both Sam and I agreed that running on-site programs in an area so remote proved too difficult for students to attend courses. We are now expanding both into the Southern California area as well as re-establishing roots where the school started, in San Antonio, Texas. We’ll be able to start offering monthly in-person workshops and classes in the San Antonio area within the next month, as well as advanced medicine making and wilderness medicine courses in California!

We’ll also have some very exciting news to share about the clinical program and some new developments, over the next 4-6 months that you should stay tuned for. Here is one of the new great developments — Sam has been working on an advanced learning tool that will become available through our phone app (its also desktop-friendly) later this fall, and students taking the Herbal Medicine for Professionals course this fall will get to try it out as well. This is an interactive tool that will allow students to work on their clinical intake, medicine making, wildcrafting and growing skills in a way that is completely new, and we can’t wait to share it with you.

Our apothecary has entered into a new stage, with a brand-new Taos-area space dedicated solely to intensive medicine making as well as a satellite mini apothecary at our original San Antonio area campus. We are truly moving the medicine making into a new level now!

This school has never been static and has been growing and changing under Sam’s leadership since the beginning, and honestly, we’re all very excited about the tremendous potential we’re about to embark on this year. Stay tuned, there is more to come…

Sam, baby Orion, Lucy (Fur) and Suchil, on our last day in Taos before starting the school re-location!
